Do you like pasta salad? If you do, our tasty low fat pasta salad recipe is definitely for you. The ingredients we use are easily obtained from the local market, and you don’t have to be a pro cook to understand out simple step-by-step instructions when making the salad.
A little bit of information on pasta before we continue to the recipe…
We find pasta mostly in Italian dishes, but it is believed that pasta originated in China. The core ingredients for making pasta are wheat and water. Additional ingredients like vegetable extracts and eggs are also used commonly when making pasta. There are two different types of pastas (dried and fresh) available in the market. Dried pasta is what we need for our recipe below.
Ingredients for our pasta salad recipe :
3 cups of pasta. (small shell shaped ones, macaroni, farfalle or fusilli are good choices)
Enough water to boil the pasta
half a cup of carrots, peeled and grated
half a cup of frozen peas
One small tomato seeded and cut into thin slices
1 small can of tuna, well drained
1/2 cup of Fat Free Mayonnaise
Method
Boil salted water in a large pot and cook pasta in it until firm and tender. Rinse with cold water and drain well. Combine pasta in a large salad bowl with rest of the ingredients and toss gently. Keep in the refrigerator for at least 30 mins before serving. You can add 1/2 cup of Fat Free Mayonnaise to this if you like. Serve chilled with your choice of salad dressing.
